Invisalign Is Good For You

By Jason Lagden

You may think that widely spaced teeth, overcrowded teeth, cross bites, under bites or overbites cause no harm, but that’s where you are mistaken. These conditions can lead to problems like unnatural wear and tear of teeth, painful jaw and joint problems or even gum diseases and bone loss.Wearing metal braces can be a real bother. However, an effective technique to straighten your teeth without having to wear metal braces is by opting for Invisalign. This method of ‘invisibly aligning’ your teeth involves putting on sets of near- invisible plastic aligners.

Invisalign is easy and quick

The entire procedure of straightening your teeth from start till finish, is easier and quicker by Invisalign as compared to the traditional straightening methods using metal braces, which can take up to two to three years to align your teeth. On your first consultation with your dentist, they would take impressions and photographs of your teeth, which are sent to Invisalign to prepare a 3-D model of your teeth. Invisalign then prepares another 3-D model of how your teeth are expected to look at the end of the alignment programme. Using Align Technology’s ClinCheck® software, you can view the progress of your teeth through the course of the treatment. Your custom-made aligners are produced for you following the results of the ClinCheck® software. You receive a set of two aligners which puts a different kind of pressure on your teeth, which changes at each stage of the treatment, thereby moving your teeth slowly, until it is has lined up to its final position. You will need to change your Invisalign aligners once every two weeks for a new set of aligners. The entire process may take less than a year, depending on your case. Minor corrections can be done sooner.

Invisalign is convenient

Invisalign aligners are removable. For effective results in minimal time, you will need to wear it for at least twenty hours a day, but they can be taken out while eating or brushing and flossing your teeth. So you can still tuck into your tacos or popcorn without fearing that it will get stuck in your braces. They are also much smoother and feel more comfortable when you wear them, unlike metal braces which are sharp and can poke your mouth in places.

With Invisalign, you can certainly kiss your love, but don’t ever try chewing gum! It’s a great way to have even, well-spaced teeth without impacting your lifestyle.
